Durante su residencia la Dra. Cantelo dará unos cursos en la UNLA y presentará dos de sus videos a alumnos del CMMAS. Residencia gracias al convenio de colaboración con la Universidad de Manitoba y el CMMAS.
While in Morelia, Dr. Cantelo will be giving lectures at UNLA and will be showing two of her videos at CMMAS, "Animus" and "Carry Me Home." Both of these short, 15 minute videos use dance to explore aspects of spirtuality. The sound track for each piece was produced in Winnipeg, Canada by Cantelo and local musicians. The first video, Animus, is based on a Jungian analysis of a dream sequence which takes the viewer through an interior landscape. Carry Me Home was developed out of a pilot project which Cantelo did with St. Boniface Hospital and uses dance to look at ways in which illness impacts individuals and their families.
Brenda Cantelo holds a PhD in Religion (1998) from the University of Manitoba, Canada and currently teaches in the Religion Department. She is also a Senior Fellow and the Dean of St. John´s College at the University of Manitoba. Dr. Cantelo's research and teaching interests are in the areas of Religion and the Arts and she has written and produced videos on Religion and Painting, Religion and Architecture and Religion and Dance. Her works have been exhibited in Canada, Denmark, India, Australia and New Zealand.
