Convocatoria: Audible Denial, Sonic Unheard | Call for Compositions

Since 2016, Anton Bruckner University has been hosting the "Sonic Saturday" as part of the Ars Electronica Festival. This year, the event expands into a two-day meeting featuring spatial sound concerts, live performances, and sound installations. We aim to bring together artists, researchers and an expert audience interested in electroacoustic music, sonic art, and spatial audio practices to allow for an informal, in-person exchange of ideas.
Theme
Inspired by the festival theme "Panic yes/no," we pause to listen to how sound and music can reveal and conceal. In the face of ecological, political, and social challenges, music can take many possible roles: sound the alarm, distract and pacify, call to action, etc.
Audible Denial, Sonic Unheard explores these tensions. Does the lush virtual worlds' spatial audio allow the new velvet curtain to offer comfort while the walls crack? Or can they carve out spaces for dissonance, for listening against the grain?
As artists and listeners, we inhabit paradoxes: we perform while the ship sinks, compose while structures fail, and tune our ears to what remains unheard. In this context, does the digital music environment become a sanctuary, a spectacle, an aesthetic pleasure, or an acoustic blindfold?
